GONZALO MIRANDA

Founding Partner of Austral Capital Partners.

Currently, Gonzalo holds board positions at ACAFI (Chilean Venture Capital  & Private Equity Association), Scopix, Paperless, Atakama Labs, Multicaja, Producto Protegido, Chile Patrimonial (non-profit) and Instituto Chileno Norteamericano de Cultura (non-profit). He is member of the Society of Kauffman Fellows (www.kauffmanfellows.org) and Adjunt Professor of Entrepreneurship at Universidad Católica de Chile.

Prior to founding Austral, Gonzalo was the Managing Director of Endeavor Chile. Other past activities include co-founder of Aflora, an ecommerce retail business; VP of New Business Development at Canal 13, a media conglomerate in broadcast TV, cable and web where he led the spin-off division, Medios Australes; and founder of the Chile Chapter of the Haas School of Business/UC Berkeley alumni network.

Gonzalo holds a BSc. and MSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Católica de Chile and an MBA & MOT (Management of Technology) from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Felipe Camposano

General Partner of Austral Capital Partners.

Felipe also serves as Strategic Planning Chair for the ASEM-BIO (The Chilean Biotechnology Association). He currently holds board seats at Lucien Biotech (which he co-founded), and at the Agro Biotech Center of DICTUC, the technology transfer arm of Universidad Católica de Chile.

Prior to joining Austral, Felipe directed New Business Development at Fundación Chile where he created and invested in new technology companies. Felipe was founder and CEO of INTRA, delivering enterprise knowledge management solutions to Global 1000 firms and was co-founder of NEXION, providing technology development services to Latin American companies in China. He has served as consultant and advisor at CORFO-Invest and ProChile, promoting international investment in Chile; new project valuation at OPS&S in Argentina, Brazil and Chile; and technology advisor to CORFO-Innova, the Chilean Development Agency. Filipe has taught the Technology Entrepreneur Marketing course at Universidad Católica de Chile, written the investor column at BioNexa (RedCiencia) and won national and international innovation awards for his patents (PCT/IB2007/050917).

Felipe holds a BSc. in Computer Sciences and a MSc. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Católica de Chile.

Hiroshi Wald
Managing Director of Austral Capital Partners, US.

Hiroshi also serves as Program Chair for the MIT/Stanford Venture Lab which hosts the largest ongoing gathering of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and thought leaders at monthly events at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.  Each event gathers the leading minds in technology to discuss an idea or trend that will have a significant impact upon the tech industry and serves an ecosystem of 25,000 Valley influencers.

Prior to joining Austral, he was most recently Principal at The Wald Group, a consultancy focused on technology development, management strategy and customer insights, analysis and intelligence.  His diverse background includes Managing Director at Competitive Insights, a business intelligence firm focused on natural language processing of web content; product development executive at Knowledge Networks where he built and managed teams in India; CEO and Founder of a wireless startup, Zingdata, which was acquired by Knowledge Networks; directing market intelligence at Hill and Knowlton, one of the world’s largest public affairs and relations firms; selection as a Coro Fellow and serving as Staff Assistant at the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.

Hiroshi is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles.

Christian Matthews
 VP of Finance

Christian Matthews is VP of Finance at Austral Capital Partners. Prior to joining Austral, Christian developed his career in finance at Soquimich and new business development at Accenture.

Christian holds a Bachelors in Civil Engineering and a Masters degree in  Engineering from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
